Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 33, and my wife is 30. We have been trying to conceive for the past five years and have been struggling a lot.
She conceived four years ago, but there was no fetal growth, and it ended in a miscarriage. Two years later, she conceived again, but it was a blighted ovum, leading to another miscarriage. After treatment, she underwent a laparoscopy for a hormonal condition.
Later, she conceived twins, but there was a premature delivery at 24 weeks, and we lost both babies. After that, we waited, and it has now been ten months. We have been trying again for the past seven months, but she has not conceived yet.
Her ovulation is normal, and semen analysis is also normal. We are feeling very stressed and do not understand what is happening.
Please suggest a suitable solution.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I am sorry to hear about what you and your wife have been through.
Repeated pregnancy loss and preterm delivery can be emotionally and physically difficult.
After a pregnancy loss, it is generally advised to allow some time for the body to recover before trying again. Given your history, it is good that you have given some time before attempting conception again. There are many options to think of, so do not get upset.
Since ovulation and semen analysis are normal, these are positive signs. It is reasonable to continue trying for a few more months, as natural conception may still occur. So do not lose hope and stay positive.
When pregnancy occurs again, close monitoring will be important. Your doctor may evaluate cervical length and, if needed, consider a cervical stitch (cerclage) to help support the pregnancy and reduce the risk of preterm delivery.
If conception does not occur after a few more months, further evaluation by a fertility specialist may be needed to assess other factors and guide treatment. So consult with a fertility expert.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
