What could cause a spot on my back?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I noticed a spot on my back. What could be the reason for my spot?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern and reviewed your pictures (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). Unfortunately, it is a mole, which is common, especially in white races, and occurs due to sun exposure. I suggest you apply sunscreen regularly with a sun protection factor of 70. Also, notice any change in size, color, itching, irregular border, or ulceration.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

I have noticed changes in the size of my mole.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You may need a biopsy if you have noticed these changes and the brown spot has grown. Malignancy cannot be ruled out only on clinical examination.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
