Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I took my son to the dermatologist to have his skin tags removed. My son asked about a mole on his back and the dermatologist removed it for a biopsy. This deeply concerned me even though the doctor stated it was most likely nothing. What are your thoughts on the mole in the picture?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I feel it is a benign melanocytic nevus. No changes are suggesting it is malignant as of now. Atypical nevus will be larger, wavy, and irregular margins with more than two shades of color. The recent change of color or sudden increase in size may suggest some atypical changes, which does not look like the case here. It will come out as a benign harmless melanocytic nevus in the biopsy most likely. So there is nothing to be worried about it.
Take care.
