This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been married for five years with two children. My marital life is not fine. I am experiencing mood swings usually as well as anger. I usually got high temperament and burst my anger every 15 or 20 days. After bursting my temper, I feel very relaxed and light, as well as guilty. What kind of mental illness I have gone through?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

This could possibly be due to mood disorders like mixed mood disorder, but to form any diagnosis, a detailed evaluation by a psychiatrist in person is required. Kindly do the same. Anyway, you should work on anger management, and the following steps can help:

1. First of all, prevent yourself from acting out.

2. Whenever you feel like getting angry, either do reverse counting from 20 to 0 or deep breathing from your diaphragm.

3. Log down any problematic thoughts. Those leading to anger outbursts and then retrospectively put them down to logic and try to change them.

4. Also, maintain a diary and daily log down your thoughts uncensored to vent out your daily stress.

5. Practice relaxation techniques like breath relaxation exercises daily. It will help you relax and focus.

6. Remember every problem has a solution. You just need to try solving it, and help is just a step away.

Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.

Regards.
