Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My stomach usually passes mucus-like stools, and sometimes I have to apply pressure while passing stools. For the time being, I am not on any medication, but there is a history of the same. Is it normal?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
I am very sorry that you are suffering from acid peptic disease associated with irritable bowel syndrome. However, you should get evaluated for all possible causes of loose stools, such as thyroid profile, fasting blood sugar, stool routine and microscopy, and an ultrasound of your abdomen. If everything is normal, then you are probably suffering from irritable bowel syndrome.
I would advise in such a scenario to take a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone. You should take a soft, bland diet. You can take a smooth muscle relaxant like Mebeverine for stomach pain. We also use drugs like Chlordiazepoxide and Clidinium bromide in refractory cases.
However, it is also important to rule out inflammatory bowel disease in such cases. So, get examined by your doctor. If needed, they may recommend a colonoscopy.
I also would suggest you try to maintain regular meal timings, avoid spicy and oily foods, and manage stress, as these can worsen symptoms. Drinking enough water and including light physical activity can also help improve bowel habits.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
