Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 29-year-old experiencing vision problems that I suspect might be related to myopia. I have noticed that distant objects appear blurry, and I often squint to see them clearly. Additionally, I experience frequent headaches and eye strain, especially after working on my computer or reading for extended periods.
Given these symptoms, I believe it is time for a comprehensive eye test. Could you please advise me on the next steps and recommend an ophthalmology specialist who can accurately diagnose and treat my condition? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Myopia (a vision problem in which close objects look clear but distant objects appear blurry) is an extremely common problem. There are also other conditions like astigmatism (blurred vision) and hypermetropia (a vision problem in which distant objects may be seen more clearly than close ones). All three of these can lead to blurry vision at a distance.
Also, since you are saying that you are able to see clearly when you squint your eyes, there is likely a need for glasses. If you do not wear glasses, you can experience headaches, eye strain, watering of the eyes, and sometimes itching of the eyes. This is aggravated by the fact that you spend a lot of time in front of the computer, so you can additionally have dry eyes, which aggravates eye strain further.
I strongly advise you to have a comprehensive eye test, as you have already suggested. So please visit your nearest ophthalmologist, who will be able to help you and guide you. And most probably you may have to wear glasses, but that will be only decided after a thorough testing.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
