Does pain in penis after unprotected oral sex indicate HIV?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had been in contact with a sex worker about five to six weeks ago. I had protected sex with a condom but not protected with oral sex. After that, I did wash my genitals with diluted antiseptic. On the next day, I started experiencing pain inside my penis and in the left testicle area. I got HIV RNA, VDRL (venereal disease research laboratory), herpes IgG, chlamydia, and gonorrhea tested around the 20th day after exposure and all the tests came out negative. I even did another IgG for herpes at four to five weeks and it was also negative. But even with all these tests, no lesion of any sort, I still feel the pain in my penis sometimes but it comes and goes. What could be the reason? Please suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your queries and can understand your concern.

Regarding your symptoms after previous sex activities, I propose you have developed non-gonococcal urethritis. I suggest you the following:

  1. Capsule Piroxicam 40 mg once daily.
  2. Tablet Metronidazole 400 mg thrice daily.
  3. Capsule Co-Amoxiclav 625 mg twice daily.
  4. Tablet Ketoconazole 200 mg once daily.
  5. Tablet Acyclovir 800 mg twice daily.

If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment for a follow-up.

Thank you.
