Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Is there damage seen to the optic nerve from these images? My eye pressure is 24 on the left and 23 on the right.

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Shachi Dwivedi

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I saw your reports (attachment removed for patient identity protection). There is glaucomatous damage to both optic nerves (more in the left eye).

Was any pachymetry or visual field analysis done? If yes, please upload images. And what medications are you currently using?

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I do not have any additional testing. Eye pressure is 23. Does it mean I have glaucoma?

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Shachi Dwivedi

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Seeing the optic nerve, it is what it detects. But you need to get a visual field analysis and pachymetry also done. It is only after all these tests that glaucoma can be confirmed.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

What is the treatment for glaucoma?

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Shachi Dwivedi

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Initially, eye drops are started to control the interocular pressure. Target IOP is less than 18 mmHg. You will be asked to follow up six monthly and complete these scans. If your disease has stopped progressing with medications, they are continued. If not, and IOP is also not controlled, surgical options are considered. In 90% of cases, medications are more than enough

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Based on what you see, should I be worried? Due to my stroke, I do not have peripheral vision on the right side.

Also, when are glasses prescribed for glaucoma?

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Shachi Dwivedi

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Borderline damage is there. It is not alarming. But as you already have damage due to a stroke, you should visit your consultant at the earliest.

Glasses can be given immediately. Not an issue with that.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
