Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am 36 weeks pregnant with a right ovarian cyst. Should I go for caesarean or normal delivery? Please help.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
A simple cyst is never an indication of a cesarean. After a normal vaginal delivery, you can have a scan of the abdomen and pelvis after six weeks. In this scan, only if the cyst is significant, it must be removed. Other indications for surgery would be pain, massive size, or torsion, but only done after six weeks of delivery. It can be done laparoscopically. It is a simple daycare procedure. Usually, in pregnancy, the hormones are abnormal, so these cysts can enlarge. However, after delivery, these hormones will decrease, and the cyst will disappear.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
