Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had a pacemaker inserted three years ago. Two weeks ago, I fell, and the pacemaker hit the floor. A week later, it suddenly made a beeping sound, and my heart started beating faster. I almost lost consciousness. When my brother took me to the hospital, the doctors said that pacemakers do not beep. However, I am certain it did, and afterward, I experienced irregular heart rhythms and sharp chest pain. This only happened once. Could you please tell me what I should do now?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
The pacemaker can certainly beep, but I am not sure which type you have received. The next step is to have the pacemaker interrogated and to get a magnet ECG (electrocardiogram). A magnet ECG can show whether the pacing is functioning normally. Additionally, pacemaker interrogation is necessary to detect any abnormalities in your heart. The beeping may be due to a change in threshold or a slight shift in lead position caused by the fall. You should contact the company representative or your doctor for a thorough interrogation.
Thanks and regards.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
