Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 46 years old and have been married for 14 years. My height is 5 feet 8 inches, and my weight is 121 pounds.
I have been experiencing pain in the penis during an erection. This problem started about one year ago during sexual activity. There is no pain while urinating, but I feel pain on the outer part of the penis during erection. I have also noticed a slight upward change in the shape of the penis when erect.
Kindly suggest an appropriate medicine.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
Pain in the penis during erection, along with a recent change in shape, especially an upward bend, should not be ignored. However, there is no need to panic, as several possible causes exist for this problem.
One common cause is phimosis, where a tight foreskin leads to stretching and pain during erection and sexual intercourse. Another possible reason is a short frenulum, which can pull the penis during erection and cause pain and curvature. In such cases, surgical correction is usually the definitive treatment.
Repeated or forceful masturbation can result in microinjury to the penile tissues, leading to pain during erection. Sometimes, an unnoticed injury during sexual activity may cause internal damage or scarring, which can later present as pain and bending of the penis during erection.
Since the pain and change in shape have been present for nearly one year, it is advisable to undergo an ultrasound of the penis to rule out any internal injury or structural abnormality.
In the meantime, maintain adequate hydration by drinking plenty of water, as dehydration can worsen tissue discomfort. If the pain is significant, Zerodol P (Aceclofenac + Paracetamol) may be used temporarily for pain relief, but it will not treat the underlying cause. Avoid forceful sexual activity or masturbation until a proper evaluation is completed.
To reach a precise diagnosis, sharing clinical pictures during erection, including side view and underside, can help in assessing conditions such as phimosis (the inability to retract the foreskin over the glans penis) or short frenulum. Once the exact cause is identified, appropriate treatment can be planned.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
