Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had suffered from PVCs and was diagnosed with "athlete's heart" a few years ago as my left chamber had increased. This was also the origin of PVCs. During the monitoring phase, I reduced my exercise intensity, and the heart size returned to normal. My heart was deemed healthy. I have been symptom-free since then, but on occasional bad days, I had to use a beta blocker if my heart felt irritated.
I have recently started experiencing very short bursts of what feels like a rapid, irregular heartbeat. This usually lasts a few seconds and stops as I move in reaction to it. It does not cause any other symptoms. I have had such bursts before, but now they appear daily, usually once a day. It always happens at rest when I am sitting down, for example. Do I need to worry? Does it require investigation? Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query and understood your concern. It seems you have issues with palpitations occasionally, which are very common amongst the healthy population. They often do not pose a threat. However, I have a few questions. Did you calculate your BMI (basal metabolic index)? When was the last time you got your ECG (electrocardiograph) and lipid profile tests? Why are you taking beta blockers? What is your blood pressure and pulse rate? Kindly update with the above questions.
I hope this has helped you.
Thanks and regards.
