Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I had my last period on mid June after taking Regestrone 10 Milligram (mg) twice daily for five days. I experienced spotting during my January period and even before completing the Regestrone. Recently, I started spotting again, which is continuing today. I had poor sleep for about 5–10 days before an exam. I also need to visit a temple in early February.
I have a history of Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) and take Thyronorm 50 Milligram (mg) and Myotes Vitamin D3 daily. What can be done to stop the spotting?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
The spotting is likely due to hormonal fluctuations from Regestrone, Polycystic Ovarian Disease, stress, and lack of sleep. Anxiety and disturbed sleep can affect your cycle, especially with Polycystic Ovarian Disease.
To reduce spotting before your temple visit, Tranexamic Acid (500 mg) with Mefenamic Acid (250 mg) may help, but consult your doctor before taking any medication.
Continue Thyronorm and Myotes, Cholecalciferol as prescribed for hormonal balance. Stay hydrated and consume cooling foods like coconut water, buttermilk, and fresh fruits. Avoid spicy and fried foods.
Stress and poor sleep may have triggered this imbalance. Try deep breathing or light yoga to relax. If spotting persists, your doctor may consider another short course of Regestrone or a progesterone-based medication. An ultrasound may be needed to check for endometrial thickening, common in Polycystic Ovarian Disease.
Focus on hydration and stress management first. If spotting continues, seek medical advice. Let me know if you have any other concerns.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
