Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have PCOS/PMOS. My doctor suggested that I do ovarian drilling. I had ovarian drilling done one year ago. Still, my period has not come yet.
What should I do?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern.
Ovarian drilling is a procedure commonly done in women with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome)/PMOS (polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome) to help induce ovulation by lowering the hormone levels that are in excess. It can temporarily change the menstrual cycle, so we cannot expect periods to come at the exact time after the procedure.
I know a lot of patience is required during this waiting period, but at this point in time, it is best to continue the medicines that have been prescribed. We can wait for a few more days for the natural hormonal process to take over, or later consider medicines if required. Hopefully, you will get your period soon.
I hope it helps.
Revert in case you have any doubts.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hi doctor
Thank you for your reply. I also wanted to ask you a question. My BMI is 26.5. Will this affect the effectiveness of ovarian drilling?
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I am happy to see you again.
Body mass index (BMI) 26.5 is just borderline, yes, a lower value will definitely be better in marking ovulation, but not much effect on ovarian drilling, but in the long term, yes, weight loss might help you in proper ovulation naturally without getting dependent on medication.
I hope it helps.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
