Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have been diagnosed with PCOS or PMOS and a thyroid disorder. I was prescribed Eltroxin 75, Normoz DS, and Krimson 35.
I took Krimson 35 for three months and then stopped to see if my periods would return naturally. They did not, so I took Deviry 10 mg to induce my period, and then restarted Krimson 35.
I had unprotected sex, and my partner ejaculated inside me on the 16th day after starting Krimson 35. I have not missed any pills.
What are the chances of getting pregnant in this situation? Also, when should I expect my period after finishing the Krimson 35 pack?
Please help me.
Thanks.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com
Thank you for sharing the details.
You are managing polycystic ovarian syndrome, now known as polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome and thyroid disorder well with medications, and it is commendable that you are being so careful.
Here is a breakdown of your situation:
Key facts:
You are taking Krimson 35, which is a combined oral contraceptive pill containing both estrogen and progestin.
You have taken it regularly without missing any doses.
You had unprotected sexual intercourse with ejaculation on day 16 of your pill cycle.
Chances of pregnancy:
The chances of pregnancy are extremely low, less than one percent, because:
Krimson 35 is highly effective (over 99 percent) when taken correctly, especially when no pills are missed.
This medication fully suppresses ovulation.
Although Day 16 may seem like a "fertile window" in a natural cycle, it does not apply when you are on birth control pills, as your cycle is hormonally regulated by the medication rather than by your natural hormones.
Conclusion: Your risk of pregnancy is nearly zero.
When will you get your period after taking Krimson 35?
Krimson 35 is usually taken for 21 consecutive days, followed by a 7-day break or placebo pills.
A withdrawal bleed (similar to a period) typically occurs two to four days after stopping the 21 active pills.
If you immediately begin the next pack without a break, your bleeding may be very light or may not occur at all. This is also considered normal.
Additional notes:
Polycystic ovarian syndrome or polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome (PCOS/PMOS) commonly causes irregular natural menstrual cycles, which is why Krimson 35 is often prescribed to help regulate them.
Thyroid imbalances can also affect menstrual cycles, but since you are already taking Eltroxin (Levothyroxine sodium), this should help stabilize your hormone levels.
Normoz DS (Chromium, D-chiro-inositol, myo-inositol, and vitamin D3) is helpful for supporting insulin sensitivity and egg health, so continue taking it if your doctor has advised it.
If you are ever unsure or happen to miss a pill, I can guide you on what to do next including whether emergency contraception is needed.
Would you like assistance with tracking your pill schedule or understanding when it might be safe to stop Krimson 35 again to check for a natural menstrual cycle?
I hope this information helps you.
Thank you.
