How do I know the causes of my pelvic pain?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing abdominal pain that resembles menstrual cramps for the last two months, but I have not had my period during this time. I took a pregnancy test, and it came back negative. I am getting more concerned about the sudden onset of lower abdominal pain and the irregularity of my menstrual cycle.

Could you please let me know.

  1. What are the potential causes for this type of pain and the missed periods, as well as any underlying issues?
  2. What steps can be taken for addressing both the pain and the irregular periods?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Based on your symptoms of irregular menstruation and abdominal cramps, it is possible that you may have developed pelvic inflammatory disease, which could be contributing to the delayed periods. I would suggest you undergo a hormone profile test and a high vaginal swab (HVS) test. I would also suggest you take the following medications:

  1. Take Acetaminophen 500mg three times a day.
  2. Tab Piroxicam 40mg twice a day.
  3. Take Medroxyprogesterone 40mg twice a day.
  4. Take Metronidazole 400mg three times a day.
  5. Cap Co-Amoxiclav (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) 625mg twice a day.
  6. Tab Ketoconazole 200mg once daily.

Consult your specialist doctor, talk to them, and then take the medications. If your symptoms persist, kindly schedule another appointment for follow-up.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
