Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
A few days ago, I woke up after sleeping on my stomach and suddenly felt pain in my penis. I noticed a small wound near the urine opening that looked yellow and made it difficult to pee.
By the second day, the pink skin around the area became rough, and this continued into the third day. I cleaned the area gently with soap and took a Becosule capsule. Today (fourth day), half of the wound has changed from yellow to red, and the pain has decreased.
I also want to mention that the pink part of my penis has looked slightly blackish for a long time. Please tell me:
What should I do about this wound?
Will it heal on its own, or do I need treatment?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
From what you have described, this looks like a superficial friction injury, which means the skin has rubbed against something, likely because you slept on your stomach (prone position). This rubbing can cause a small abrasion, which is just a medical term for a surface-level scratch or scrape.
The yellow layer you noticed could be:
Fibrin: A normal, pale-yellow healing layer that the body forms over wounds.
Early infection: When bacteria start growing on the irritated skin.
To understand exactly what is going on, a clear picture of the area (with surrounding parts covered) would help me check whether this is simple eczema from friction or a mild infection.
Until then, here is what you can safely do:
Clean gently with plain water only.
Avoid strong soaps, as they can irritate the wound and slow healing.
Apply a healing antibiotic ointment like Mupirocin or Fusidic acid, twice daily for five to seven days. These help stop infection and speed recovery.
Reduce friction:
Wear loose cotton underwear.
Avoid shaving the area.
Keep the skin dry.
If it burns while urinating:
Drink plenty of water to dilute the urine.
Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly (Vaseline) before peeing to reduce stinging.
These steps usually help such wounds heal well.
If you can, send me a clear photo (with privacy maintained), and I will guide you more accurately for faster healing.
I hope this helps.
Please revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
