Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a downward curvature of the penis. This makes it difficult for me to have sex with my partner. How can I manage this?
Kindly advise.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
The condition you are describing sounds like a condition called penile curvature, or possibly Peyronie’s disease, especially if the curvature developed over time and is accompanied by thickened tissue or pain during erection. A mild downward curvature of the penis can be normal and may not interfere with sexual activity. However, if the bend is severe enough to make penetration difficult or impossible, it is important to seek medical evaluation.
The cause could be congenital (present from birth) or acquired, often due to scar tissue formation inside the penis. Treatment depends on the degree of curvature and whether the condition is stable or progressing. In the early stages, medications such as Vitamin E, Pentoxifylline, or collagenase injections may be used. For more severe or longstanding cases, surgical correction is often considered.
For now, avoid any vigorous manipulation or over-the-counter (OTC) products that promise quick fixes, as these can do more harm than good. It is strongly recommended to consult a urologist for a proper physical examination, possibly an ultrasound, and to discuss treatment options tailored to your specific case. There are safe and effective options available, and with the right approach, your condition can be managed to improve both function and quality of life.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
