How to reduce pigmentation from the face?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have brown skin and have been dealing with pigmentation issues for a long time. There is darkness around my eyes, the top of my nose, around my mouth, and along my jawline. I used Tretinoin for four months to treat acne. While the acne has reduced, there has been no improvement in my pigmentation. How can I treat or cure this?

Please advise.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. Below are a few steps that you can follow to remove pigmentation from your skin.

  1. Relax and manage your stress levels, as stress can worsen skin issues.
  2. Avoid sun exposure during mid-day hours.
  3. Apply a lip balm with SPF (sun protection factor) every morning.
  4. Use a lip lightening cream at night for one month.
  5. Apply undereye brightening cream at night for three weeks to help reduce dark circles.
  6. Use Tyrodin (Ascorbic acid, Licorice extract, Niacinamide, Sodium hyaluronate, and Tranexamic acid) serum twice a week for one month on areas with dark spots.
  7. Apply Melaglow rich cream (Kojic acid dipalmitate) twice a week for six weeks on the same dark spots.
  8. Follow a diet rich in antioxidants, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A and C.
  9. Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated.
  10. Apply sunscreen daily, 20 minutes before going outdoors.
  11. Take tablet Limcee (vitamin C) 500 mg once daily after dinner for 30 days. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her, and take the medicines with their consent.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
