What could be the reason behind the development of pigmented purpuric dermatitis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have had a bunch of black spots clustered on my arm around my bicep area for years, and it randomly appeared about ten years ago. I never knew what it was and would like to ask if there are any solutions to this issue?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is PPD (pigmented purpuric dermatosis). I suggest you consult a specialist and use the following medications with their consent. Apply Venusia Max cream (Dimethicone, Shea butter, and Glycerine) twice daily for 20 days. Moisturize the area frequently. Apply Tenovate (Clobetasol) cream at night for 20 days. Are the lesions itchy? Are the lesions blanchable that is, do the lesions disappear under pressure? Is there excess scratching and rubbing? Are you a smoker or have any other habits? Answer the questions for a detailed analysis.
