Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have pimples on my face, which are not genetic. I do not know what to do; this makes my face worse.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and can understand your concern.
Thank you also for sharing your picture (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). Although it is a little blurred and not very clear, I can still see the redness and acne on your cheek.
Acne is not always genetic; it is multifactorial and can occur due to diet, junk food, makeup, medicines, whitening creams, PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome, a common hormonal disorder in reproductive-age women), and hormonal imbalance.
I am suggesting some medications that are effective and easily available.
For the morning routine:
Wash your face with a gentle cleanser.
Apply a non-comedogenic moisturizer.
Apply a pea-sized amount of Clindamycin phosphate gel on the face or affected areas only.
Once dry, use a sunscreen.
As for the evening routine, you can
Apply a pea-sized amount of Adapalene Gel 0.1 percent gently over the whole face (not directly on pimples).
Use moisturizer before or after if skin feels dry.
Wash your face and apply Clindamycin phosphate gel on pimples again after three to four hours.
Remember to apply Clindamycin phosphate gel to pimples, and Adapalene gel goes on the whole face.
To give you more effective and faster treatment, I need to ask a few questions first.
Are you married, and if so, are you planning a pregnancy?
I also want to know if you have polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). What is your skin type?
Dry, oily, or combination?
Please also tell me if you have ever used steroid creams, formula creams, or medicated whitening creams in the past, and whether your acne feels itchy.
I will need a clear, close-up picture of your acne.
This information will help me decide if you need oral medication along with topical treatment to make it more effective, or if the topical routine alone will be sufficient
Use the given skin regimen for one to one and a half months, and you will start to resolve, and you can always come back for a proper consultation for better and more effective management.
I hope this answers your query.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
