How can I improve my immunity against pneumonia?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

How can I improve my immunity to pneumonia since I have already had it five times?

Once when I was a kid, thrice in high school, and currently at college.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Pneumonia is a lung infection. It is a serious problem if you do not care about it in a timely. You get pneumonia due to infection with bacteria, a virus, or a fungus, or if your immunity goes down. You said you had pneumonia five times in your lifetime.

As you had it with a gap of some period, it is not recurrent pneumonia. Generally speaking, you can improve your immunity by eating good nutrition, green leafy vegetables, nuts, and doing regular exercise. Good sleep is also very important for this. Avoiding stress and anxiety will help to improve immunity. You can get vaccinations such as the pneumococcal vaccine and the influenza vaccine for better immunity.

So, immunity is the effect of all. No single medicine or diet will improve immunity. Simultaneously, you have to do some lifestyle modifications like hand hygiene and not eating any fast food. This all will help you build better immunity over a period of time.

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
