Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome/polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome and recently started taking compounded Semaglutide. However, I am experiencing severe nausea, as well as breast tenderness and irregular bleeding. Are these known side effects, or could they indicate something more serious?
Additionally, my pharmacy combines the medication with vitamin B12. Could this affect how the medication works? Are compounded versions less effective than the branded medication Ozempic?
I also read that some states have banned the use of compounded Semaglutide. Is it safe for me to continue taking it? I am feeling quite concerned.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I understand your concerns regarding the side effects you are experiencing with compounded Semaglutide.
Side effects: Severe nausea, breast tenderness, and irregular bleeding can occur as side effects of Semaglutide, but they should be monitored closely. It is important to discuss these symptoms with your healthcare provider to rule out any underlying or serious conditions.
Vitamin B12 mixture: Mixing Semaglutide with vitamin B12 is not standard practice and may potentially affect the medication’s absorption or effectiveness. It is advisable to consult your healthcare provider regarding this combination.
Effectiveness of compounded versions: Compounded Semaglutide may not be as effective or as safe as the version approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration, such as Ozempic. Differences in formulation and dosing consistency can impact both efficacy and safety.
Safety concerns: Some states have prohibited the use of compounded Semaglutide due to concerns related to quality control and patient safety. It is essential to ensure that your pharmacy adheres to strict quality standards and complies with United States Pharmacopeia guidelines.
Please schedule a consultation with me if you would like more detailed information about any of these topics or if you have additional questions.
I hope this information helps you.
Please let us know if you have any further queries.
Thank you.
