Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 42-year-old man. I take a Dynaglip L 5 mg tablet alternately every day. My fasting sugar is an average of 100 to 110, and HbA1c is an average of 5.4 to 5.5, but PP after two hours of the meal is 200 to 205, and PP after three hours is 170 to 180, and PP after four hours is 110 to 120. Can I continue this medicine and our daily routine?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Hello, thank you for reaching out. Based on the information you provided, your fasting blood sugar and HbA1c levels are within a good range, but your postprandial (PP) blood sugar levels are quite high. This indicates that your current medication and routine may not be adequately controlling your blood sugar after meals.
Dynaglipt L (which contains Linagliptin) is generally used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes. However, it seems that taking it every other day might not be sufficient for managing your postprandial blood sugar levels.
Here are a few suggestions:
1. Medication adjustment: You might need to take Dynaglipt L daily instead of every other day. Consult your healthcare provider before making any changes to your medication regimen.
2. Dietary changes: Consider modifying your diet to include foods with a lower glycemic index, which can help reduce postprandial blood sugar spikes. Eating smaller, more frequent meals might also help.
3. Exercise: Regular physical activity can improve insulin sensitivity and help manage blood sugar levels. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week.
4. Monitoring: Keep a close watch on your blood sugar levels and maintain a log to share with your healthcare provider. This can help in making more informed decisions about your treatment plan.
Please book a consultation with me if you would like more detailed information on any of these points or if you have other questions.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
