Patient's Query

Hello,

I am experiencing sharp pain when I breathe right under my left breast. My left shoulder has been hurting, but it is not very painful, just noticeably uncomfortable. These symptoms appeared last night and got worse on breathing. After some time, the pain was gone. I experienced a similar random episode of chest pain when I was a little girl. I was told that I had lung nodules. I am not under any medication. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query.

I understand your concern.

Pain that aggravates on respiratory movements has many causes. The most common are musculoskeletal, precordial catch, lung pathologies, etc.

If pain is sudden and sharp that causes you to hold your breath while inspiring is most probably a precordial catch, it subsides on its own in less than one hour usually.

If pain also aggravates with coughing and sputum or fever, insult is most probably in the lungs. I suggest you get a chest x-ray done in that case.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
