Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I am a 36-year-old woman who is hypertensive. I am 5 feet 2 inches and weigh 196.2 pounds. I am pregnant. Is there any risk in my pregnancy? Please help.
Thank you.
Dear,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
With passion, commitment, and experience, I hope I will be able to provide you top-class medical opinion.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! If you are not careful, hypertension can worsen during pregnancy. It is important you continue treatment and reduce salt in your diet. You will be advised to take Aspirin to avoid super-imposed high BP (blood pressure) in pregnancy. Also, you may need to change to medications that are safe in pregnancy. You will need more health checks, scans, etc. to assess the baby's growth. As you are overweight, you have to be careful about your weight gain in pregnancy. You will be advised of usual tests in pregnancy as anybody else.
I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
