Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My wife and I have been sexually inactive for several years, so masturbation was a sexual release. The good news is that we have renewed our sexual intimacy, but while having erections, I am having ejaculation issues. Later I masturbated to see if I could, and I did. Maybe my dependency on masturbation has caused this problem. Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
As you have rightly observed, there is no problem with your ejaculation. Masturbation may be an indirect cause in that the penis receives a kind of stimulation different from intercourse. For example, the squeeze you get in masturbation is not there in intercourse. The pace of stroking is different. The partner's movements may not be conducive.
It probably takes a while before you re-learn to experience intense pleasure from peno-vaginal intercourse.
See if your sensations improve if your partner holds her vaginal muscles tight during intercourse. She might also hold the base of your penis with a ring formed by her thumb and index finger while you are thrusting. At the same time, she may also slightly squeeze your penile base rhythmically. Check if these measures help you ejaculate. Try several times before giving up.
More importantly, look within yourself for any mental blocks holding you back. If self-help does not help, please see a sex therapist.
I hope this answers your query.
Thank you.
