What is the treatment for psoriasis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am 33 years old, and I have been suffering from psoriasis. I started Cosentyx two months ago but got this terrible chest infection. My WBC count is 12.4 cells per microliter, and I might need to stop the medicine. These patches cover 40 % of my body (PASI score 28.4). I tried topical steroids before, but they made my skin so thin. What other options do I have? Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder.

  1. Moisturize skin frequently.

  2. Use Liquid paraffin lotion in the daytime for 15 days.

  3. Drink plenty of water.

  4. Eat a diet rich in antioxidants, zinc, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins A and C.

  5. Eliminate stress.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
