Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My little daughter has a supravalvular pulmonary membrane that causes minimal stenosis, and I am unsure of what to do. The doctor mentioned that the stenosis is very small, and we will monitor her condition. I would like to know what steps I should take next and whether this condition can be treated without surgery. She is currently 10 months old.
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
This condition is more relevant to pediatric cardiology than adult cardiology. However, I believe that if the stenosis is minimal, it should only be monitored at this stage with regular yearly echocardiograms. If the stenosis progresses and becomes severe, it can initially be managed with balloon dilation in the young age group, and only if this fails, surgery may be considered. I wish your daughter a speedy recovery and a happy life.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
