Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I want to quit smoking. Everyday something happens which makes me smoke another stick. I am sick of smoking but nothing is helping me out. I have already tried meditation to do some exercise and all but in the end, I cannot control and again I start smoking. I am not willing to have any medicine or nicotine gums as a solution, if something else you can recommend that would be helpful.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

See smoking comes under the addiction to nicotine. Addiction has multifactorial etiology, for example, peer pressure, family history, personality factor, maladaptive way to deal with stressors, underlying anxiety, and depression. As far as treatment is concerned which is dependent on patients motivation, motivation should be strong enough to quit because treatment would only facilitate you for this action. You strongly require medication and counseling for motivation and to understand your psychological condition.

The Probable causes

The probable cause is smoking.

Investigations to be done

Investigations to be done are all baseline investors.

Differential diagnosis

The differential diagnosis is depression.

Treatment plan

For treatment, I suggest, tablet Bupropion 75 mg three times a day.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
