Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a rabies vaccine (VaxiRab N). According to my schedule, I received two doses on the day of the bite. Then, I was supposed to take one dose on day 7, but I took two doses instead. Is there any effect? I am worried.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and can understand your concern.
It is totally understandable that you are feeling a bit worried after accidentally taking two doses of the rabies vaccine on day 7 instead of one. The good news is that VaxiRab N (rabies vaccine) is generally very safe, and getting an extra dose by mistake is not harmful. It may cause a bit more soreness at the injection site or mild side effects like fatigue or a low-grade fever, but overall, it would not negatively affect your protection or health.
The important thing is that you are staying on top of the schedule, which is key when it comes to rabies prevention. Just continue with the rest of the doses as planned. And if you are ever unsure or have any symptoms you are concerned about, it is always recommended to check it with your doctor or local health center for reassurance.
You have done the right thing by acting quickly after the bite and following through with the vaccine. You are protecting yourself well. Do not stress too much, you are on the safe side.
I hope this helps. Follow up in case of any doubts.
Thank you.
