How to manage tiny bumps all over the chest and back?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am an 18-year-old girl and have mild acne on my face and moderate acne on my back if that helps. I have tiny bumps all over my chest and back. I only noticed them appearing after I shaved there. As soon as I stopped shaving, it ruined my self-confidence. Some of them are red, and a few are like proper little pimples, but the majority are skin-colored bumps. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I thoroughly read your query and understand your concern.

You have got folliculitis, and maybe it is steroid-induced acne. If you are taking or applying any medicine that contains steroids, then stop that. Following are my suggestions for your problem:

1. Do not use hair oil and any sticky cream on the face.

2. Avoid oily food, chocolate, and milk products.

3. Avoid dust and use sunscreen above 30 SPF (sun protection factor).

4. Do not rub any cream on the face.

5. Do not use any steroid creams.

6. Continue treatment for at least one month.

7. Facewash or soap is not a treatment and is not much use useful.

8. Do not touch acne and avoid pressing it.

For treatment, I suggest you use the following:

1. Clindamycine (Clintop, Faceclin, Clear gel). This is more preventive and curative, so I tell patients to use it all over their faces in the morning.

2. Adapalene gel (Adalene and Defferine). Use it over acne in the night.

3. Tablet Doxy (Doxycycline) 100 mg once a day.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards.
