This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been suffering from a persistent cough and an enlarged uvula. For the past 10 months, I have experienced difficulties swallowing food and breathing.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

Depending on the symptoms mentioned by you, it can be reflux laryngitis, lumps in the throat, acidity, or chronic tonsillar hypertrophy. Chronic rhinosinusitis could be a predisposition to this problem.

I would advise you to answer the following questions.

  1. Is there any pain while swallowing?
  2. Is there regurgitation while swallowing?
  3. Is there any sound and difficulty while breathing?
  4. Have you noticed any increased salivation?
  5. Is there increased throat mucus or a burning sensation in the throat or stomach after ingestion of food?
  6. Is there the presence of any thick nasal discharge or nose block with a decreased sense of smell?
  7. Kindly send a picture of open mouth and blood reports if they are available.

Please answer the questions above so that I can guide you better.

Thank you.
