Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My baby is vomiting milk, is this normal or not? My baby is three months old. I am worried about this milk vomit.
Please advise.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I have read your query and can understand your concern.
At this age, small amounts of milk coming out from the mouth after feeding are absolutely normal, what we call spitting or regurgitation.
Kindly answer these questions.
Is your baby breastfeeding or on formula milk?
Is she gaining weight appropriately?
Is she passing urine and motion properly?
After how long did she vomit?
Is it a small amount each time or a large amount, and is it curdy milk?
If she is vomiting a large amount, then it may be due to swallowing too much air while feeding and may be due to improper burping. If your baby is breastfed, then a good latch is required while feeding the baby, and after feeding, hold the baby upright on your shoulder for some time till she gets a good burp. With this proper practice, if she continues to vomit large amounts of milk each time, then this requires to be addressed.
Connect with me for more information, as mentioned above, and I will advise you accordingly.
Thank you.
