Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
This morning, I took my Salbutamol HFA 100 mcg 15 minutes after taking my Breo Ellipta 100/25, and two hours later, I experienced a rapid heartbeat of about 120 BPM (beats per minute).
I was wondering if I needed to stop taking my inhalers for a while, and for how long should I stop them?
I also experienced this with my old medication (Symbicort Turbuhaler) two months back. I also have an appointment in two days for an ECG.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I understand your concern.
Do not worry, the increase in heart rate is caused by Salbutamol and Vilanterol. It is a common side effect of these drugs. It will be reduced in six to eight hours. Take plenty of water.
There is no need to go for an ECG (electrocardiogram). Stop taking Salbutamol for a few weeks and continue Breo Ellipta (Fluticasone furoate (corticosteroid) and Vilanterol). Take Deriphyllin Retard (Etofylline andTheophylline) 150 as a bronchodilator.
Later on, to prevent recurrence and to improve the lungs, start yoga and pranayam regularly. Go for walks regularly and eat good, nutritious foods.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Regards.
Thank you.
