How to deal with a painless mouth sore inside the cheeks?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a mouth sore inside both of my cheeks. However, there is no associated pain and it has been there for the last two weeks. It is small and pink in color and looks like a bump on the skin. I have had it before for a few days, but it was cured without any medication. Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It is normal and nothing to worry about. However, I would request to opt for a follow-up query if you need further details.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Could you please elaborate a bit on what this is? Is it some part of the oral anatomy, or is it some deformity that will go away, and what can I do to recover if it is?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It is a part of your oral anatomy. It is not any form of deformity. The marked area (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) is known as Stensens's duct opening, an opening for the parotid gland (salivary gland) on both sides of the upper molars. So nothing to be worried about or to recover as it is normal and everyone has it.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
