Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My brother is 18 years old, and he has scoliosis. I want to take medical advice on the same.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing in and I understand your concern.

As we can see, scoliosis. It is a condition where the spinal cord shifts sidewards from the middle, so orthopedic and surgical intervention are required in such cases. Other things depend on the symptoms of scoliosis. And the surgeon will do fixation of it accordingly.

The test required are CT (computed tomography), MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), x-ray, and blood reports.

  • Can you please tell me what all symptoms he has?
  • Is he able to walk properly and do daily activities normally?
  • Did you do MRI or x-ray previously?

Please let me know so I can help accordingly.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

We could observe his spinal cord tilted to the right side. He is lifting one leg while walking; we could see a bit length difference in both the legs. We did the MRI and x-ray previously; however, we can get it done now. Please suggest what can be done to fix it completely.

Hi doctor,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The fixation of the spinal cord is required. Firstly the doctor can try with a splint (but only with a splint slight improvement is possible) to treat scoliosis according to his severity. Operation is required; only then there are chances of improvement. So I would suggest you consult an orthopedic and then plan for the operation. And if he agrees, then get it done. He will tell you the risk according to the severity of it. The operation will be a good option if you are willing for it.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
