What is the treatment for seasonal affective disorder?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 44-year-old female working at a school. Last winter, I suffered major depressive symptoms and took therapy according to the physician's advice. Now that winter is approaching, I feel anxious and insecure. What are the chances I go into depression again this year and what can be done to avoid it? Kindly suggest.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

It is a seasonal affective disorder. You might not face this issue every winter unless you are in stress and tension. I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.

  1. Get enough sunlight for half an hour daily.
  2. Exercise regularly for at least 45 minutes a day.
  3. Try to share any negative thoughts with your close ones.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
