Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I did not get pregnant again after my first baby. He is nine years old now. So, I am looking for some tips or advice on how to become pregnant again.
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
For pregnancy to occur, there are some critical factors:
1. Your uterus should be normal - an ultrasound scan can check this.
2. You should be ovulating in most of your menstrual cycles. If you have a monthly period, you are most likely ovulating.
3. Your fallopian tubes should be open. The fallopian tube is the site where the sperm and egg meet and fertilization occurs. If the fallopian tubes are blocked, then fertilization cannot occur, leading to infertility. Doing an HSG (hysterosalpingography) will help to confirm if your fallopian tubes are open or closed.
4. Your partner's sperm should be good enough and adequate. Close to 50 percent of cases of infertility are caused by poor-quality sperm. So, a seminal fluid analysis is also necessary.
5. Also, your age matters. If you are 35 years old and above, there is a need to check your hormone level to determine your AMH (anti-mullerian hormone) and other parameters. This will help determine your probability of achieving spontaneous pregnancy.
So, you would need to do some investigation, after which I can properly put you through what to do to get pregnant.
The probable causes could be blocked fallopian tubes or poor sperm results. Investigations to be done include a pelvic ultrasound scan, HSG, and SFA (seminal fluid analysis ). Let me know when you have the results so that I can review them.
I hope this information helps you.
Revert in case of queries.
Regards.
