Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have PCOS and started using compounded Semaglutide for weight loss three months ago. It worked great at first; I lost 12 pounds, but now my weight loss has stalled. Does this mean my dose needs to be increased, or do some people stop responding over time? Also, I have read that compounded versions might not be as stable as the brand-name drug. How can I verify that my pharmacy's version is legitimate?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
I am sorry to hear about the stall in your weight loss progress. With polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), weight loss can be challenging, and sometimes the body may adapt to the medication, leading to a plateau. It might be worth discussing with your healthcare provider whether an increase in dosage is appropriate or if other adjustments to your treatment plan are needed.
Regarding the stability of compounded versions, they can indeed vary in quality compared to brand-name drugs. To verify the legitimacy of your pharmacy's compounded Semaglutide, ensure they are accredited by a reputable organization like the Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board (PCAB). Additionally, discussing your concerns with your healthcare provider can help determine the best course of action.
Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
Thank you.
