Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have been looking into weight loss medications and saw that some places sell a cheaper, compounded version of Semaglutide instead of the brand-name ones like Ozempic. I know it is not FDA-approved, but is it safe? How do I know if I am getting a good-quality product?
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
A compounded version of Semaglutide instead of the brand-name ones like Ozempic. It is not FDA (Food and Drug Administration)-approved as they do not abide exactly by the safety norms laid down hence better you opt for the one your treating doctor approves. Here the question is not just the quality involved it is also the dose of Semaglutide that is suited to you. As this medicine reduces your sugar levels it is important to stick to the dose and duration as analyzed by the doctor prescribing. Also, do discuss with your treating doctor regarding the safe alternatives they will be more aware of based on which part of the world you are residing in.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
