Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My husband has been struggling with his diabetes and weight for years now. He recently started this new medicine called Semaglutide, and I am not sure what to expect. He has already lost some weight but keeps complaining about stomach pains and feeling nauseous all the time. Our doctor said it could help with his type 2 diabetes and weight management, but I am worried about side effects. He used to be so active, but now he is always tired and looks weak. I tried multiple diets and exercise programs, but nothing worked before this medicine.
I want to get healthy for our kids and be able to play with them without getting out of breath. Please tell me if this Semaglutide is really a good option or just another temporary fix. Would like to understand if he should continue or look for alternative treatments. His A1C was really high before starting this medicine.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Semaglutide is a safe and effective agent for weight loss, type 2 diabetes, reduces cardiovascular risk, and improves heart health. It also helps reduce HbA1c. It is FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approved, so do not worry about its safety.
It does have side effects, but within a few weeks, it will adjust. He can take over-the-counter medicines for it if you tell him he has lost some weight. I think you should observe for a few weeks, if it still does not adjust, then think about an alternative. Follow up after two weeks.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
