Patient's Query
Hello, Doctor,
I have been hearing a lot about Semaglutide and wondering if it is the right step for me. I am 41 years old, prediabetic, with a BMI of around 33, and I have already tried cutting carbohydrates, intermittent fasting, and even hiring a nutritionist last year. I lost a few pounds, but nothing major. I have a family history of diabetes and high cholesterol.
Now that Semaglutide is FDA-approved for weight management,
Please suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Semaglutide promotes weight loss. It may also be used to maintain weight loss. It works by decreasing appetite. Changes to diet and exercise are often combined with this medication.
It commonly causes gastrointestinal side effects that are often worse when starting treatment and after dose increases. Nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea are the most common Semaglutide side effects. But they usually improve after a few weeks. Most clinical trials studying Semaglutide for weight loss lasted between 68 weeks to two years, but there is no clear answer as to how long you must continue the medication in order to maintain your weight loss results.
We require all our patients to have bloodwork done within the last three months before beginning them on Semaglutide weight loss injections. Individuals should undergo a thorough medical assessment. It is important to discuss any existing health conditions, medications, and potential side effects with a healthcare professional. Semaglutide may not be suitable for everyone, and its use should be carefully monitored.
I hope this has helped you.
Please feel free to reach out to me again if you have further queries.
Thank you.
