Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I did my blood work today, and the results are

  • Hemoglobin - Normal.
  • TSH - Normal.

Comprehensive metabolic panel: Everything normal except the following.

  • Carbon dioxide: Result - 20mEq/L; Normal - 21 to 33; Status - Low.
  • Chloride: Result - 95mEq/L; Normal - 98 to107; Status - Low.
  • Sodium: Result - 149mWq/L; Normal - 134 to 146; Status - High.

CBC Panel: Everything normal except,

  • LYMPH ABS: Result - 4.310^3/uL; Normal - 0.7-3.1; Status - High.
  • LYMPH %: Result - 40%; Normal - 14-46; Status - Normal.
  • RDW: Result - 12%; Normal -12.3-15.4; Status - Low.

Rest all of the results came normal. However, I am a little nervous as I just got my result on an online portal. Is there anything to be concerned about?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Everything is fine except serum electrolytes (metabolic panel). These need to be corrected according to the symptoms. These changes can be due to a high salt diet and so reduce the salt in your diet. Do not worry. Please tell me what symptoms do you have? Do you have difficulties in breathing, chest pain, or anything? Tell me your symptoms and also mention if you are taking any medicine.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I do not have any symptoms. However, just recently, my left throat was hurting like tonsillitis. Also, the cough started today, and I guess that is maybe due to the weather.

Are my LYMPH and RDW fine in the report?

Answered by Dr. Sugreev Singh

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There is nothing to worry about. Just reduce salt in your diet. LYMPH (lymphocyte) and RDW (red cell distribution width) are due to tonsillitis. Just drink lukewarm water and green tea frequently. Antibiotics are not required. Avoid cold stuff completely. It will be alright in three to four days.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
