Hi doctor,
I am trying to figure the cause behind my hypertension. I am taking medication for 18 years and now my blood pressure got uncontrolled suddenly again. My doctor has changed some of my medicines. Now I am taking Eplerenone 25 mg. After taking it, my blood pressure came down but it is still unstable. I am also taking Rosuvastatin 10 mg for high cholesterol. Is there any issue present in my liver? Is it the cause behind my problems?
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
From your reports, it appears that your lipids are in uncontrollable condition. Both cholesterol and triglyceride levels are derranged along with uric acid levels. There are many factors that are needed to be taken into consideration before deciding the cause behind high blood pressure. You can have a family history of high cholesterol and cardiovascular diseases including hypertension. You can have high uric acid levels due to high levels of protein in your diet.
It can also be due to a recent COVID-19 (severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2) infection in the past few months. You need to do serum electrolyte levels, renal ultrasound, and thyroid function tests. Increase the dose of Rosuvastatin to 20 mg and take them once daily. You can also take tablet Ezetimibe 10 mg once daily at bedtime. Reduce taking red meat, spinach, tomato, fish, seafood, or protein-rich food in your diet. Eat five to six portions of cruciferous vegetables like salads. Reduce taking sugar totally. Avoid taking dairy products. Eat oven-baked or roasted or boiled foods only.
