Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I had sex with a sex worker three months back with protection. After a while, I had an itch on my penis, so I consulted a doctor, who prescribed an ointment called Nystalocal cream. I used that, and the itch went away. After many weeks the itch is back. I am worried now. I cannot get to do an STD test right now. What should I do? Should I use that ointment again?
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Using the same ointment that was previously prescribed may provide temporary relief, but it is essential to address the underlying cause of the itching. The recurrence of symptoms could indicate that the initial treatment was not completely effective, or there may be another reason for the itching altogether. While you mentioned using protection during your sexual encounter, it is worth noting that no protection method is 100 % effective in preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs). In the meantime, practicing good genital hygiene, avoiding sexual contact, and refraining from using any over-the-counter medications without professional guidance may be advisable.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
