Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 30-year-old male weighing 85 kilograms, non-smoker, with no relevant clinical history. I saw a sex worker about a week and a half ago. She slide her vagina on my penis for a few minutes each. A couple of days later, my urethra is sore, and I have pain in my perineum and a fever.

I got antibiotics for a UTI. I took about for four days and my urethra is still sore. Also, my thighs are a bit rashy, but they may be unrelated (I lost my luggage, and I have been low on clothes). I got an STI check. Everything was normal, including HIV 1 and 2, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, and hepatitis B.

If it persists after the antibiotics, what should I do? Does this take time, or do I need immediate further treatment?

Hello sir,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query, and I am sorry for such discomfort.

You have mentioned a complaint of a sore urethra after sexual exposure.

1) Do you have any mild fever?

2) Any difficulty in micturition?

3) Any discharge from the penile tip?

4) Any pain in the pelvic region?

5) When you had done the STI (sexually transmitted infection) test?

Based on the history, it could be STI (sexually transmitted infection), but it needed to be confirmed through a test and specimens from the penile tip. You should visit an STI clinic and STI specialist for local examination and laboratory tests and start appropriate antibiotics based on the laboratory test and local clinical examination.

You should take immediate treatment for the present medical problem.

Please reply to the above questions to guide you further better.

Thanks.

Patient's Query

2) Any difficulty in micturition?

No, only discomfort.

3) Any discharge from the penile tip?

No discharge has been noticed.

4) Any pain in the pelvic region?

Pain in the perineum before taking antibiotics.

5) When you had done STI test?

One week before.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You have symptoms including soreness in the urethra. It could be due to STI (sexually transmitted infection) and, most likely, urethritis.

You must confirm with a urine test and swab from the urethra in the laboratory. Do the test before taking any further antibiotics otherwise test result may come negative or sterile.

Do not worry, sir. It is treatable and curable with the appropriate antibiotics. Do not take antibiotics on your own. I can also recommend antibiotics for the present problem, but you should start antibiotics only after the above test is done. You need to visit a local health doctor, and he would recommend the above test and start the appropriate antibiotic after the test result.

I hope you find my reply helpful and guiding sir. Please follow up if you have any further related queries about it.

Thanks.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
