Am I at skin cancer risk due to my family history?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I just developed an unusual kind of pimple near my nose. It appears like a mole from a distance, but up close it looks like a scar with pus inside, and my family has a history of skin cancer, so it scares me.
Kindly guide me.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Regarding your symptoms and the picture you sent (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), I believe you have developed infected acne vulgaris. I can see you have a family history of skin cancer. I suggest doing a skin snip or scraping test and replying with the result.
Also I suggest taking the following:
Apply topical 2 percent Clindamycin cream twice a day for one week.
Capsule: Co-amoxiclav (Amoxicillin and Potassium clavulanate) 625 mg orally twice a day for two weeks.
Tablet: Ketoconazole (antifungal) 200 mg orally four times a day for seven days.
If your symptoms persist, schedule another appointment.
I hope this helps.
Please let me know if you need some help.
