Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 20-year-old male and have been suffering from a skin rash. I have been applying ice to soothe my rash, which returns after a few minutes. What could be the reason for my skin rash? Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query.
Skin rashes could be due to multiple reasons, including urticaria, wherein there is a hypersensitivity reaction of the skin to external factors, including sun exposure, underlying medical conditions, medications, and changes in body temperature. The other causes of skin rashes include fungal or bacterial infections, reaction to any recent medications, topical creams or products, or insect bites, consumption of shellfish, and seasonal berries, including strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc, and exposure to allergens and tick infestations.
The most probable cause of your skin rash is urticaria. These occurs on and off, as multiple small red rashes in groups or hives that are slightly raised. These appear within minutes to hours of exposure to the allergen. These present with excess itching, and burning sensations and can lead to excoriations, abrasions, and blister formation due to repeated scratching. To reduce the symptoms, one must avoid exposure to the allergen and take medications such as anti-histamine tablets and low-potent corticosteroids.
I suggest you to follow up with the image of the skin rash and the history of illness that you had, your previous reports, and any prescribed medications, to confirm the diagnosis and to manage it appropriately.
I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
