How to manage my dizziness and sleep issues?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have not slept in about a week due to trauma. I am also having other issues, including swelling in my feet, dizziness or lightheadedness, a racing heart rate, and anxiety.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I am really sorry you are dealing with all this. Lack of sleep, anxiety, and trauma can definitely trigger symptoms like dizziness, racing heart, and swelling. The medications you are on, like Flexeril(Cyclobenzaprine), might also contribute to some of the issues.

At this point, with your symptoms, it is important to check in with your doctor to rule out other health concerns and see if adjustments are needed, especially for anxiety or sleep. Valium can help during an attack, but long-term support might be different. A quick check-up could help get to the bottom of your physical symptoms, too.

Swelling, dizziness, and a racing heart could also signal other medical conditions, like electrolyte imbalances or cardiovascular concerns, so it is important to rule those out, too.

Have you had a recent check-up to evaluate things like heart health or hormone levels, given that you are on estrogen and other medicines? If not, a quick checkup with blood tests might help give you more clarity. Would you be able to see someone soon?

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
